Service / Institutions
Dimensional was founded in the US in 1981 to provide institutional investors access to small company stocks, underrepresented in most portfolios. As financial science has identified new sources of risk, the firm has added strategies to its repertoire. Today, that repertoire spans all major asset classes, including Canadian and international equities as well as fixed income. All along, our strategies have maintained an institutional focus: to reliably deliver specific risk exposures at a low cost and to increase returns through advanced portfolio design and trading.

This empirical approach has led Dimensional to become an investment advisor to hundreds of institutions in the US. In Canada, our Canadian funds and services are available to institutional investors where permitted by applicable securities laws. Our Canadian funds offer a separate class of units designed for institutional investors. These Class I units have fee arrangements separately negotiated with each institutional investor that reflect the nature of the investment to be made*. In addition, we manage a variety of strategies appropriate for institutional investors. These include a range of core, small cap, large cap, and value strategies for US, international, and emerging market equities.

Dimensional's team of regional directors works closely with institutional investors to assist them in understanding the relevance and applicability of Dimensional funds to their investment objectives. The Canadian office also works closely with regional directors in the US.
